Food in the mountains
We recommend packing your snacks of choice for those long days in the mountains. Same goes for your favorite beverages. Eating well is key for keeping your strength up out in the wild. And to cope with the loss of appetite, the best you can have is a wide variety of food at your disposal, from sweet to sour and salty. Carrying at least 2 liters if water is essential.

Accommodation during the trip
At Jakob every service is guaranteed. Dinner and breakfast are included in this bundle. At the huts you will find USB charging stations, restrooms and other amenities.

Travel and rescue insurance
An insurance plan is mandatory to protect yourself from the unexpected. Check with your insurance company on the details about coverage and policies. Feel free to contact us for details or in doubt.

Book your trip!

Day 1: At 9 a.m. we meet at the Cathedral. We will use the chair lifts to quickly gain altitude. From the top of the ski resort we cross the Col del Viento and go down to the Rucaco Valley. Depending on the conditions this can be the most technical part of the day. Once at the bottom of the valley, we go up the ridge of the “Brecha Negra”. We take off skins and ski down to the San Martin hut, also known as Jakob. A hot tea awaits us!
Estimated time: 6 hours.

Day 2 and 3: Waking up in this place and having the whole day to ski! ¿What else do we need? After breakfast we prepare to explore the area. We will look for the best runs according to the group and the conditions of the mountain. Some must-sees are the east face of C° Constructores, C° Cella and a tour through the Témpanos Lake. Estimated time: Whatever your legs give you!

Day 4: We get up in the morning, have breakfast, pack our backpacks and slowly start our return. Depending on the conditions, it will be return to Cathedral by the same track we came from or by the trail down the valleys. This one reaches the Tambo Baez where out transfer will be waiting for us.
Estimated time: 8 hours.
