Day 0: We’ll share a preliminary talk in Hostería La Luna (km 7 Bariloche). During this meeting we’ll take a first look at the theory and discuss our schedule for the following days. This is the time for clearing out the doubts and getting ready for our climb to Meiling hut.

Day 1: We leave early from Bariloche to Pampa Linda. Roughly a two and a half hour ride. We’ll load our backpacks and begin our trekking to the hut. The trail goes up most of the way; the climb to “La Almohadilla” being the hardest stretch. From there, we’ll walk along the edge as we get an ever closer look at the Castaño Overa Glacier where we’ll ultimately set up our practice ground. The estimated time is about 4 to 6 hours to get to the hut. Depending on the time we have, we’ll get to enter the glacier that afternoon.

Day 2: On the second day, we’ll pay a full visit to the Glacier. After breakfast we’ll get ready to leave. We’ll split the day into classic and top-rope ice climbing practice.

Day 3: On the last day, we’ll adventure in a journey across the Castaño Overa Glacier. Finally, we’ll go down to Pampa Linda.

At the hut, we’ll spend two nights. Practices will be held in the area close to the hut, but depending on the group, we may adventure ourselves a little further. That is why we require the participants to have some basic mountaineering experience, handling the weight of their backpacks and necessary gear (10kg approximately).

8 to 10 hours of work a day is expected.

It is very important to know that the place of departure may change due to snow conditions and weather. We’ll let you know in our preliminary meetings.
